Pursuit of the Hidden Blades – D&D 2024 One Shot

Welcome to Westgate, a town built on rocky cliffs, with streets and buildings layered all around the mountain, forming a city that’s woven directly into the mountainside. It’s a breathtaking sight, but there’s trouble brewing amongst the citizen. As protectors of this city, you might be local heroes, agents working for the powerful king, guards hired by the noble families, or even players in the city’s underground scene, trying to keep business flowing smoothly.

Recently, disturbing rumors have spread about a group called The Hidden Blades. Some say they’re planning a public attack on the city’s leaders, while others believe they’re targeting one of the bustling market squares for a major heist. The nobles and officials are anxious, and they’ve hired you to find this guild and put an end to their plans, by any means necessary.

Your mission is straightforward: track down the Hidden Blades before they make their move. As you explore Westgate’s winding streets and shadowed alleys, you’ll need sharp eyes, quick thinking, and a firm resolve. The fate of Westgate—and maybe your own future—depends on your success.

Note that the first half will focus on investigation and roleplay, while the second half will feature a huge, epic fight

Character creation

We will be using the new official 2024 rules for character creation. Please use the 2024 Charactermancer character sheet to build your character, as this session is a test of Roll20 functionality and an opportunity to familiarize ourselves with the new rules. Therefore, we ask that you refrain from using D&D Beyond or creating your sheet manually.

After using Charactermancer, we’ll check in to see if you encountered any bugs or noticed anything missing, and we can make manual adjustments to your character sheet as needed.

Please create a **level 3** character using either the standard array or point buy system. At the start of the game, we’ll ask each player to describe their character and share details about their origin feat, subclass, and any special abilities.

How to join

Please make sure to reserve your spot here for the session.

Once that’s done, check your email for the link to the game and our Discord channel, which you should join as soon as possible to get in contact with us for the session.

Hello, my name is David! Ever since I can remember, I've had an insatiable passion for storytelling. As a child, I would lose myself in imaginative tales, often building stories with my toys that never seemed to have an end. Bedtime was a suggestion I frequently ignored in favor of extending these adventures. My journey into storytelling and world-building didn't stop there. During my teenage years, I delved into the captivating world of live-action role-playing (LARP), where my friends and I created entire realms to immerse ourselves in. I've always had a deep love for improvisation, as it allows stories to take shape in unexpected and exciting ways, with everyone's contributions weaving together into something extraordinary. My Dungeons & Dragons adventure spans a remarkable 27 years. I was a mere 10 years old when I first delved into the classic AD&D edition, and by the time I turned 13, I was already stepping into the role of Dungeon Master, crafting intricate worlds and adventures for my friends. When it comes to my game style, I aim for a fast-paced, well-rounded experience. Whether it's roleplay, skill challenges, or intense combat, I believe in delivering a game that keeps everyone engaged and eager to explore. I take my role as Dungeon Master seriously, and I'm well-prepared, ensuring that my worlds are thoughtfully designed to let players unleash their imaginations to the fullest. In my games, it's not just about me as the storyteller; it's about you, the players, the evolving narrative, and the thrilling synergy we create together.
